Winter Giveaways

Because of my recent move, I had to go through my bookcases and clear out quite a few books. In order to get them all to my new place, I probably would have required the services of an obliging dragon or giant for transportation.

Unfortunately, both dragons and giants seem to be in rather short order nowadays ...

Instead, I was forced to take a large stack of books to the local library. But I did save all of the fantasy and speculative fiction books just for you, my dear readers!

So for the rest of the month of November and all of December, I will be offering one fantasy or speculative fiction giveaway a week on my blog.

Giveaways are limited to the US ... due once more to the lack of adequate international dragon delivery services.

This week's giveaway is for the first two books in the Legends of Karac Tor series by D. Barkley Briggs: The Book of Names and Corus the Champion.

Enter the giveaway using the Rafflecopter below!

The Book of Names

The Book of Names

From an ancient land of myth and legend comes a cry for help.

After tragedy strikes their family, Hadyn and Ewan Barlow must adjust to a depressing new life. But when a secret viking runestone opens the door to a world in peril, they are given a choice: join the battle of this magical, foreign land, or never find their way home again. In the Hidden Lands of Karac Tor, names are being stolen. Darkness spreads. As strange new powers awaken within, will the Barlows reluctantly answer the call to fight? Or will they succumb to Nemesia’s dark spell and join the Lost…forever?

Corus the Champion

Corus the Champion

He was once the greatest champion in the land. Then he disappeared.

With Nemesia’s defeat, the Barlows have helped turn the tide in the Hidden Lands. But the victory is short-lived. An even greater evil stirs in the north with a fierce new army bent on destruction. As the twins, Gabe and Garret, discover their own special powers and chase down long forgotten mysteries hidden in time, a thin thread of hope emerges: a fabled king was once rescued from death on our world and hidden on Karac Tor. But who is he?

Each brother has their part to play. Hadyn must travel north to warn the land barons, while Ewan and Sorge set out to rescue Corus from the clutches of Hel. As ancient destinies rise from the ash heap of history, Ewan is left with a bitter choice. Will he sacrifice what is most precious to discover whether Corus lives? Even more important, if Corus is alive, can he wake the Sleeping King of legend … before it’s too late?

  2. Yay giveaways!

My favorite thing to do once it starts getting cold outside is curl up under a blanket with a good book. Either that or write, write, write, because cold weather means November and NaNoWriMo!

    1. Another one of my favorites. I've been doing that a lot lately in the evenings.

Good luck with NaNoWriMo. It's been a couple years since I've participated, but I always loved it when I did... well loved and hated it at the same time. :)

  3. Giveaway! I love giveaways.

Well, when it starts getting cold outside, I usually disappear to my room(the coldest room in the house) and grab a book off the shelf. Then I turn on my favorite music and read. I also like to write and drink hot chocolate.

    1. Is it bad that I've started playing Christmas music already? Whenever I get home from work in the evenings, I turn on the Christmas music ... and it makes me so happy!

When it gets cold outside EVERYTHING becomes my favorite thing to do. I love, love fall and winter! Wearing a sweater and hood is probably at the top of the list; makes me feel like an adventurer. ;D

    1. Thanks, Nightingale! Sweet of you to say.

By the time summer's over, I'm ready for some cold weather. But come about mid February and I'm ready for it to be summer time. Guess I need to work on enjoying the weather that I have at the moment! :)

Hmm, on cold days I've lately been doing school, drinking hot chocolate, and writing when I have a chance.

    1. Well, you don't have to feel too bad - I had at least eight boxes filled with books that I was able to fit in my truck when I moved! ;) But I'm glad that these books will still get some good use out of them!

Yeah, the weather's a bit fickle in my neck of the woods. It's really cold when I get up in the mornings ... then it warms up quite a bit during the day ... and then it's bitter cold at night again when I head home!

  9. When it gets cold outside, my favorite thing to do is to curl up with a furry blanket, my stuffed panda, and ideally some tea or hot chocolate, and just relax - read, or chat to friends, or sometimes write. Usually while listening to Christmas music. XD

  10. When it's cold out, I prefer writing and tea, or watching a favorite TV show. Maybe tramping in the woods. With tea. Basically, anything with tea.
